Out Patient Department

This is the heart of service delivery at the health facility, it receives all kinds of patients and screens patients i.e. those to be referred as out-patients and those to be admitted.
The out-patients have a turnaround time of approximately 1 hour, it comprises of 3 clinicians and two medical doctors who see patients.
The outpatient department has a consultation room, a waiting room, a pharmacy and an emergency room.

Working Hours

The department works from 8am to 8pm, 7days a week.
The department receives approximately 350 patients monthly and the major cases handled throughout the month include; Malaria, Anemia, Respiratory tract infections, Diabetes meritus, Accidents, Urinary tract infections, Hypertension, Pneumonia and others.

Activities

  • Taking the patients particulars i.e. name, age, village etc.
  • Taking anthropometric measurements on patients i.e. weight, height etc.
  • Directing patients to where they are supposed to go i.e. too doctors, clinical officers, cashier, ultrasound scan etc.
  • Receiving emergency patients as fast as possible i.e. accident victims.
  • Registering patients who come for routine counseling test
  • Counseling patients about their conditions
  • Ensuring that all patients at the OPD are attended to.
  • Allaying anxiety of all patients and relatives with terrifying conditions
  • Pushing patients to x-ray who are recommended
